Why it's different

It isn't a time clock. It's the other half of your HR system.

Standalone clock-in apps hand you a CSV at the end of the month, and somebody still has to reconcile it against leave, against the roster, against payroll.

This app is a window onto the workspace you already run. The balance the employee sees is the balance your leave policy computed. The approval a manager taps runs through the same approval workflow as the web app — same audit trail, same rules, same record. Nothing is exported, because nothing left.

Which means the honest version of the pitch: if you don't run BackOffice, this app has nothing to sign in to. If you do, your team stops asking HR how many days they have left.

A single ring shows whether you're on the clock and for how long. Breaks are a separate tap, so paid hours and break time never have to be untangled later.

Location rules that hold up

Per-location policy: a GPS geofence, the office Wi-Fi network, or both. The phone sends raw coordinates and SSID; the server decides pass or fail and says what's missing in plain language.

Balances, not guesses

Every leave type with days remaining and days taken, computed from your policy — not a number someone typed into a spreadsheet in January.

Approvals inbox

Managers see pending requests with the dates, the balance impact and the reason, and approve or reject with a comment. It runs on the core approval engine, so the audit trail is identical to the web app's.

A live list of everyone currently checked in. Useful the moment you need to know whether the site is covered — and the only fire-roll call that's ever up to date.

Reminders that arrive anyway

Shift-start, shift-end and long-break reminders are sent from the server, so they land even if nobody opened the app that day. While a session is open, a pinned notification shows it.

Sign in once with your normal credentials — password and 2FA, Google or Microsoft — then it's a biometric tap every morning after that.

The Manage tab appears only for people holding the approve-leave or manage-attendance capability. Everyone else gets the two self-service tabs and nothing more.

Before you install it

Does the app cost anything?

The download is free and there's no separate mobile seat. It signs in to your BackOffice workspace, so what you pay is your normal plan — see pricing.

Can someone clock in from home?

Only if you allow it. Each location can require a GPS geofence, the office Wi-Fi network, or both. The phone sends raw signals and the server rules on them, so a doctored app can't approve its own check-in.

Why does it ask for location permission?

Because your location policy asks for it — and on Android, reading the Wi-Fi network name also counts as location data. If your sites have no geofence and no network rule, it never asks.

Do managers have to use the app?

No. Approvals are the same engine as the web workspace, so the same request can be handled on either. The Manage tab just means an approval never waits for someone to reach a laptop.

What about iPhone?

In build. Android is on Google Play today; join the list and we'll send the TestFlight invite when the track opens.

Does it work offline?

It needs a connection to record a check-in — the server is what validates the location and writes the record. In practice a moment of signal at the gate is enough.
